Inside | Out
As has become painfully evident during the coronavirus lockdown, the ability to move in and out of different physical, mental and social spaces is an important part of human experience. This year’s theme invited students to consider the differences between interiority and exteriority – and the transitions between them – from a designerly perspective.
Topics included the exploration of physical spaces (indoors/outdoors, private/public, individual/shared), mental or emotional spaces and possible shifts between them, social forms of inclusion/exclusion, and the borders and boundaries that separate interiority and exteriority.
