Design Goal
Encourage a student to create awareness and reduce the use of their smartphone before sleeping alone, to let the body and brain have a good night’s rest.
Interaction vision
A girl lying on the grass and taking a deep breath before blowing on a dandelion.
Reminder
The final design is called Re(m/w)inder (reminder/rewinder). It is a two-way charging station with light for near the bed. The user can use the cable to charge with the condition that the cable slowly retracts itself teasingly to let the user know that he or she should put the smartphone away to create awareness and reduce the time with the smartphone. Or charge it on the alternative way: wireless charging, also known as slow charging. Because wireless charging is better for the phone battery, which results in a better working smartphone. In the end, the user is in control and put through a decision moment of playing with the phone or leaving it on the slow charging and going to sleep.
