Design Goal and Interaction vision
The design goal: ‘With my design I want to facilitate and stimulate greeting behaviour in the IDE society and in doing so unlock the underlying IDE culture we all share.’
The interaction vision: I merely wish to stimulate a short, warm, exchange of greetings between IDE society members.

Unlocking IDE Culture through greeting
Coming from a Caribbean upbringing where greeting one another regardless of social intimacy is normal, it interested me to study the greeting behaviours exhibited by IDE Faculty staff and students from a cultural point of view. I found that our individualistic behaviours cause a rift to form between people. During this project I wanted to explore and understand ways in which designers can bring people together (communitive behaviour) by designing for something as abstract as culture which theoretically we all share to some degree. I conceptualize, prototype and propose 3 environmental design interventions which achieve the desired design goal and interaction vision.
