Design Goal
Stimulate the senses of demented elderly in the time between tea and dinner in order to reduce their emotional distress and boredom in this current low-stimulus situation.
Interaction vision
The interaction with my concept should be like sitting in the sand, looking at the bonfire and adding wood to keep the fire alive.
Glowb – light up your memory –
The final concept Glowb is a multisensory memory game for demented elderly which is played on a light box. Every player gets a little bag with an image or texture on it and needs to find the matching couple on the light box by using his/her sight and touch senses. In order to make it easier the frames should not be placed upside-down as in a usual memory game. When a match is found the player can grab a little card out of the bag and put it into the frame that has been found. On this card is either an animal for a touch frame or a question for an image frame, which trigger communication between the residents. The changing light of the box creates a cozy atmosphere and adds a special effect to the semi-transparent game elements. Moreover, the colour change is always a surprise and thereby prolongs the interest and interaction with the game.
