Design Goal and Interaction vision
The design goal; I want to increase the feeling of being independent of children with Down so they can participate at home easier and by this live their lives their own way.
The interaction vision; Biking with training wheels. The users are free to go wherever they want but are guaranteed they won’t fall because of the training wheels.
Din, increase the participation of children with Down
Din is a product that gives every family member a personal box, including the child with Down. This box can be carried around all day long on their key ring. In this box big tasks and tiny tasks are placed. The big tasks are to increase the participation in the household, the tiny tasks to collect experiences. Every family member will bring their box at the end of the day to the dinner table, where a low-level, equal conversation will be created based on the collected experiences. With this the child with Down is involved in the conversations but is not the only focus. By being able to do the tasks the child with Down feels independent and free but is always guaranteed of help when needed.
