Projects

Ingrid is involved in many projects concerning transformative and social design.

Participatory City Making

The aim of the Participatory City Making project is to develop a framework that can enhance participatory city making of grassroots initiatives and the public administration through small-scale experiments. The city of Rotterdam will form the case study context for these experiments, contributing to the development of a toolset for new city making practices. The development of these city making tools will provide a better understanding of the value of prototyping for systemic change.

Open4Citizens

The project aims at showing the potential of open data to citizens, by creating open playgrounds where citizens, students, experts, start-up companies, academia and public institutions can collaborate to generate meaningful applications. Thus, applications that meet citizens’ needs and desires and contribute to their everyday life. The playground is a virtual and physical place where citizens, interest groups, movements can find a reference to generate new solutions. Likewise fablabs, which are disclosing new opportunities for bottom-up production by manipulating materials, the O4C playgrounds disclose new opportunities in re-using open data.

Designscapes

The overarching aim of the Designscapes project is to exploit the generative potential of urban environments in the highest possible number of European Cities to encourage the uptake and further enhancement and up scaling of Design enabled Innovations by existing enterprises, start-up companies, public authorities and agencies, and other urban stakeholders.

Research through Design for Values

The aim of the project is to study the values made explicit in the 7 TUD projects in the NWO programme Research through Design (RtD), which are: Participatory City Making, Resourceful Aging, MyFuture, Mycelium-based Materials for product design, Smart clothing, Beyond The Current, and Double Face 2.0. The RTD for values project is funded by the Delft for values institute and aims to strengthen the synergy among these projects and the respective Faculties of Industrial Design Engineering and Architecture and the Built Environment.
