In recent years I have been very closely involved with design research for energy efficient housing. New home technologies require new interfaces in the home and change people’s interactions with their home. Currently I contribute to themes 1,2 and 8 of the IEBB project and co-supervise Evert van Beek’s PhD project on the users’ perspective on heat pump use.

Other research interests include design research for patient empowerment, for example in orthopaedic rehabilitation, and design for the user perspective on smart technology during travel, where I co-supervise Sumalee Udomboonyanupap’s PhD project.

I am the coordinator of the Delft Inclusive Design Lab , a strategic alliance with lead partner Visio and other partners. In this lab, we seek to generate new research collaborations with stakeholders. The Inclusive DesignLab is a platform for collaboration. You are welcome to join us in connecting students, societal stakeholders and companies in shaping and learning about the latest developments in inclusive design.
