The International Association of Societies of Design Research is organizing its congres in Tokyo for 2013!

In a special session on aesthetics I will present the results of a study we performed with Automotive Design students. The students rated photo’s of car interiors on the unity and variety and we aimed to show how both relate to their aesthetic appreciation of the interiors. This study informs us whether design education alters the preferred perception of unity and variety in product designs compared to consumers. Thereby we attempt to aid designers in better understanding how to design for their intended audience.
