Interactive Environments Minor, students from the year 2011.

Finished on

2011

Context

The Touchspace was developed for the TEDxDelft event.

Purpose

The installation is an interactive soundscape which uses four, modular, furniture objects connected with a central loudspeaker. Each chair represents a different musical component; two produce ambient sounds, one percussion and one sound effects. The embodiment of the prototypes allows for users to collaboratively trigger different sound samples and once and compose soundscapes through the interaction with the Touchspace.

Learnings

The students have learned a lot about technology and how it can be used to create sound-based experiences for the visitors. Through interaction studies students have researched different modes of interaction with the element and how the shapes could be used to facilitate the composing of soundscapes. In the end the knowledge from various fields of research was combined to achieve these life-scale, interactive prototypes.
