Context:
A collection of branch-shaped objects, to promote play for young children in the hospital
Purpose:
Three qualities are key in promoting young children’s physical activity: free, bodily and dispersed play. Stickz was one of two prototypes that were used to examine how to promote these qualities in the waiting room area.
Learnings:
Based on the findings in the analysis of the stickz and fizzy prototypes design strategies on how to promote ‘free’, ‘bodily’ and ‘dispersed’ play were defined. These design strategies can contirbute to how we design for children’s physical acitivity and play.
