Context
This prototype was part of a research internship during which a study was conducted on money saving behavior, saving strategies and happiness.
Purpose
Piggybank with intentions is a smartphone docking station which is complemented by an app. This combination brings a character to life that encourages its users to save money in a meaningful way. This interactive way of saving money helps people to set clearer saving goals and be more mindful of the ways they are saving money.
Learnings
Saving money with a specific goal in mind has been shown to be more productive than not having a specific goal. Furthermore, having a physical representation of the saving process combined with personified character of the product ensured users were more often reminded of their saving goals. This type of interaction ended up being most effective in the context of saving money.
