Context:
BagSight is a research artifact exploring how designed objects can express their own intentions. By tightening its cords the backpack is able to move around on the back of the wearer expressing feedback or desires. Such as fear of obstacles, by moving away from them, or interested in moving towards a certain goal.

Purpose:
This prototype was made to explore a theoretical framework around agency, intention and embodiment. Focussing on how the role intetion plays in human and non-human collaboration. By drawing an analogy between human-guide dog teams and objects with intentions with this artifact, van Beek explores how tasks and autonomy are negotiated in these human to non-human relationships.

Learnings:
Participants described using BagSight as an extension of their own senses. This research also helped van Beek understand the relationship between understanding of behavior and the attribution of intention.
