Sure You Can
A common phenomenon among 12 year old children is that they lose the motivation to draw. Wacom agreed to develop an application that would enable children to become more satised with their drawings. The most important thing missing during the drawing process is any lack of indication of where it went wrong. A solution to this problem was found by designing an application that gives a feedback loop. The application would give several assignments that require the child to copy a line image. Copying would happen by drawing each line segment between predened dots. After drawing each line, the application would give feedback by marking the parts that were too far away from the real line. The child would then have the choice to redo the line, or leave it like that. Technically, the application had become a game. Each stage contains a collection of assignments that are executed to learn a certain drawing lesson. This drawing lesson will be summarized in one sentence and will be projected as title of the stage in the assignment window. Once an assignment is completed, it is ticked off with a mark for completion and the application provides the option to save the lines in an image format that can be opened in other programs, such as jpeg or bmp.
