This means that I try to provide students, other teachers the insights and tools they might need for inspiration in their design process. I do this by coordinating, organising, participating, coaching and advising in many different courses. As a coach, lecturer or advisor I&#8217;ve been involved in numerous courses, such as: <a href=\"https:\/\/studiolab.ide.tudelft.nl\/studiolab\/romero\/files\/2019\/06\/Course-Manual-IE-2019.pdf\">Interaction &amp; Electronics<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/studiolab.ide.tudelft.nl\/studiolab\/pasman\/video-for-designers\/\">Video for Designers<\/a>, Interactive Environments, Bachelor Final Project, Design Driven Innovation, Interactive Technology Design, Cross Media Interaction Design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DfI Master Identity Day <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shortly after the faculty started to offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/en\/ide\/education\/master-programmes\">three Master programmes<\/a>, I was involved in the Master Identity Days for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/en\/io\/studeren\/masteropleidingen\/msc-design-for-interaction\">Design for Interaction Master<\/a>. These days are offered at the beginning of each semester in September and February. With <a href=\"https:\/\/studiolab.ide.tudelft.nl\/studiolab\/desmet\/\">Pieter Desmet<\/a> as the master coordinator, the focus started to be more targeted at the value that our master students could offer to society by collaborating with external organisations on societal issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To give you some inspirational highlights of those days, check out Pieter&#8217;s page on the <a href=\"https:\/\/studiolab.ide.tudelft.nl\/studiolab\/desmet\/dfi\/\">Master Identity Days<\/a>. Each day resulted in great short videos of new ideas for different societal issues. For example in 2015 we helped the municipality of Rotterdam to Take on Trash in different cases, resulting in solution movies in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?list=PL1q4zjZM7Oy4-l3Z_8kZDPt6AkW9xAl4c&amp;v=1P0Mm-fWOko\">Y<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL1q4zjZM7Oy4-l3Z_8kZDPt6AkW9xAl4c\">ouTube playlist<\/a> (my favourite videos are the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/gWTdpw-b32A\">Duck Police<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/4XzeUWZdrE0\">Truber<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IDE Academy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest course that encapsulates inspiration in design education is <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/LZItOAhqYYE\">IDE Academy<\/a>. This course was a direct result from the amazing energy and results in the Master Identity Days. The combination of students autonomously learning through doing, the public causes benefiting from the results and the positive effects on the community as a whole made us thing: what if we could offer this kind of education every week? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In IDE Academy, we offer all first year Master students the chance to acquire new skills or work on existing skills in a safe learning environment interactive workshops. Each Wednesday we offer around 2 to 4 full-day workshops on things like research, prototyping, presentation, technology, business etc. Students can select a workshop to do during that day and after they finished 14 workshops we ask students to reflect on these skills to get their 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/resources-and-tools\/european-credit-transfer-and-accumulation-system-ects_en\">EC<\/a>. Since July 2021 I have handed over coordinatorship of this course to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/io\/over-io\/personen\/kobus-cba\">Charlotte Kobus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/io\/over-io\/personen\/tempelman-e\">Erik Tempelman<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/linkedin.com\/in\/arnovleeuwen\">Arno van Leeuwen<\/a>. IDE Academy stopped as part of the renewal of the Master Program in 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding Design<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the new bachelor I set up and coordinate a new course <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/io\/studeren\/bsc-industrieel-ontwerpen\/ontdek-de-io-bachelor\/understanding-design\">Understanding Design<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/io\/over-io\/personen\/eekelen-bf-van\">Bregje van Eekelen<\/a>, exploring the definition and phenomenon of <em>Design<\/em> as we practice, research and teach it here in our faculty. We try to make the students and teachers look at <em>Design<\/em> from different perspectives, especially looking at the socio-historical implications of design. This course was given the first time with a wonderful team in September 2021 with great feedback and won the Pluim (student appreciation award) for <em>most inspiring bachelor course<\/em> in 2023. In it we introduce the student to the academic field of futuring and its approaches and methods and open up their design capabilities to speculate, envision and present these futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
