Local governments are increasingly looking for new ways to involve citizens and to increase trust in their policymaking processes. At the same time, grassroots initiatives and the popularity of social media and mobile devices have spurred a demand for new forms of self-organising governance by citizens as well. The challenge is to look for ways to empower citizens while exploring the value of local, small-scale initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
