Welcome to our online exhibition!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our online exhibition stand, we are Group 22 and worked on a project for the Erasmus MC. Our focus area to design for, are people who have to undergo reconstructive following oncological diseases. This can be quite a heavy journey for patients. This brings us to our problem statement and goal:

This is done by an AI assistant named AYRA, who is embodied in a stressball. The visual below shows what AYRA does. She guides the patient through a reflection session at home, saving the important expressions for sharing with the doctor, and she listens, supports and reminds the patient during the consultation to help him or her to get the best out of it.

This iterative process of reflecting and supporting will result in consultations that are more valuable, and more efficient for the doctor, and a patient with an eased mind.

So now it is time to explore it! Please walk with us to your first ever consultation session with Doctor Kang.

Hi! good to see you, as this is your first consultation with your doctor, Dr Kang. During this consultation, you still may have a lot on your mind. Imagine that you would have to listen to the doctor when your mind goes like this:

It would probably look a bit like this:

Luckily you receive the Unwind your mind kit!

Here is a video of the VR environment of the consultation room. Feel free to explore it by clicking and dragging in the video! By emerging patients in the consultation room during their reflection sessions, patients get used to the environment and will feel more at ease and perform better during the consultation (Hudson & Whisler, 2008).

A week has passed, and you are in your living room. It is a day before the consultation, and you use the Unwind your Mind kit to prepare yourself for the consultation. AYRA, the AI assistant guides you through a reflection process while she listens and saves your answers, and she can remind you of earlier conversations with your doctor.

??
Take a look inside AYRA?S head! This is part of the conversation guide that AYRA currently has to guide patients through the conversation. However, in the future, she could learn more to make the conversations even better - ?Hi [name] and Welcome to the waiting room! I?m AYRA! Your virtual assistant, will help you to reflect and prepare for your consultation sessions. As your consultation with Doctor Kang is coming up again, I want you to be as prepared mentally and emotionally as you can. Please squeeze me if you want to go on with this process. - During this virtual preparation session I will try to understand what you are feeling right now and how I can be of help to you. Hold me in your hand! I will try my best to understand you by listening to you and by feeling how you use me; let it be squeezing, tossing or fidgeting. - Squeeze me if you are okay with me trying to understand you [consent / ethical approval]. - Before we begin, please, take a moment for yourself, and feel free to explore the room! - Tell me, how are you feeling today? [?] - Can you think back to the last consultation? What things have you discussed? [?] - What are your expectations from the next consultation? What do you expect to hear? [?] - Thank you! Now you've explored the waiting room and consultation room to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally. I collected all your worries and thoughts and I saved them in my memory so you can access them during the consultation session. Therefore, don?t forget to bring me to the hospital tomorrow! - Are there any topics you would like me to hide in the saved overview when displaying the overview during the consultation session? - Take one more deep breath and good luck tomorrow!?

After the preparation session, walk with us to the next day, to your next meeting with doctor Kang. And don?t forget to bring AYRA!

We are back at the consultation! Patients are now prepared for the conversation with their doctor. When they are not, AYRA is there to help! AYRA will remind them if they forgot something, or provide support when needed. This is shown in the video below.

That was it! Hopefully, you understand our concept now by experiencing this online exhibition. We also made a video of the physical exhibition on Wednesday 22-6-22. You can watch it below!

The poster below summarizes our concept for you:
