The GPS hunt of Kristin & Casper
What is GPS Hunt?
Evaluation of the concept
Evaluation of the concept
For the first stage, we explored directions like games, motions, and communications in skiing.
After the first exhibition, we found it interesting to explore more games and communication directions. We did brainstorm different feedbacks for games and ways to strengthen relationships between people.
The origin of the GPS Hunt
At the same time, we rethought the reasons why we chose skiing as the aimed sport we designed for. It seemed we could try more other sports instead of skiing. So we tried other sports like hiking into different concepts and tested every concept during phase 2.
The testing of the GPS Hunt
When we tried for other sports, we found the problem that people needed motivation to go outsides and play like children. It seemed we could help them to step out by giving them surprise or stimulations. So the draft concept came and we depended it for the final one game: GPS Hunt.

Start of the game
Friends can connect their O?Neill gear to the app and choose what colour they want to play. Accordingly, their gear will temporarily change into that particular color for the duration of the game. To start a game participants must be in the same area, but shouldn?t be all at the exact location. Depending on the number of participants, the AI generates multiple target points at different GPS locations in the area. The AI will distribute these points as fairly as possible, so every player has the same chance of succeeding. Through the app, all players have access to the map containing the target points and colored dots representing others? locations.
During the game
Players have to try and conquer as many GPS locations as they can before someone else reaches that location. When you have reached a location, you will get a certain amount of points. The amount of points is based on the distance of the location.
If one of the participants conquers a location, all players get a notification through their O?Neill gear. The gear will vibrate and LEDs in the gear will communicate who conquered which spot.
End of the game
The game ends when every target point has been reached or when players chose to end it earlier. As an end signal, the vibrations in the gear will last longer and all the LEDs light up.
